Indian Startup QpiAI Secures $32M to Boost AI Development via Quantum Computing

Bangalore-based QpiAI India Pvt. Ltd. has raised $32 million in a Series A funding round to advance artificial intelligence development using quantum computing. Led by Avataar Ventures, the round also included participation from India’s Department of Science and Technology's National Quantum Mission (NQM), which focuses on strengthening the country's position in quantum technologies.

QpiAI plans to leverage the unique capabilities of quantum computers to design sophisticated AI models and algorithms. Their target sectors include finance, logistics, healthcare, and materials science. The startup has already built a 25-qubit quantum computer named QpiAI Indus, which can theoretically scale beyond 300 qubits by clustering multiple machines.

Quantum Computing Basics and QpiAI's Approach

Qubits, the fundamental units of quantum computing, differ from classical bits by existing simultaneously as 0 and 1. This superposition enables quantum computers to perform complex calculations at speeds far beyond classical machines.
