Rork Raises $15 Million to Build Mobile Apps From Text Prompts

Rork, a platform that converts natural language into functional iOS and Android applications, has raised $15 million in seed funding led by Left Lane Capital. Peak XV, True Ventures, Goodwater, and a16z Speedrun also participated in the round.

The company's core product takes plain-language descriptions and generates apps built on Swift, React Native, and Expo. Users can publish directly to the App Store and Google Play without writing code.

Rapid Adoption Since Launch

Rork launched its web product in February 2025 and released a mobile app later that year. Within months, it ranked among the top developer tools in the App Store globally and became a leading referral source to RevenueCat, a mobile subscription platform.

Co-founders Daniel Dhawan and Levan Kvirkvelia initially explored AI tools for web development. They shifted to mobile after recognizing the space was less saturated and more technically demanding than web development.

New Product Targets Xcode Replacement

Rork Max, the company's latest product, is designed to replace traditional iOS development tools like Xcode. It lets users build apps across Apple's ecosystem-iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, Vision Pro, and iMessage-using English descriptions.

The product gained significant attention at launch, generating millions of views and doubling the company's annual revenue within weeks.

Acquisition Strengthens Native Development

Rork acquired Paperline, a macOS app that builds native Swift applications with AI. The acquisition adds native development capabilities and supports Rork's goal of creating a web-based alternative to traditional development environments.

Lowering Barriers to App Creation

The platform enables students, creators, and entrepreneurs without coding experience to build and launch applications. Early users are already generating meaningful revenue, according to the company.

Kvirkvelia said AI models are progressing faster than most people realize. "Rork is winning because of our early bet on AI becoming exponentially better at hard problems-and it's already happening with software engineering," he said.

Dhawan framed the shift differently: "When everyone fears AI replacing their jobs, we believe it will lead to more consumers starting companies. The next generation of entrepreneurship will thrive on the App Store."

Matthew Miller, managing partner at Left Lane Capital, said mobile represents the most valuable development platform. "There is roughly $160 billion in annual consumer spend and five trillion hours of attention flowing through an expanding universe of apps," he said. "AI is collapsing the barriers to building software, and Rork is pushing that shift to the most complex and valuable layer of the stack."

For product teams evaluating how AI affects development workflows, Rork's approach reflects a broader trend: AI for Product Development is making faster iteration possible with smaller teams. Teams considering AI Coding Courses may want to understand how these platforms are reshaping what coding skills matter most.
