Choose a risk framework like the NIST AI Risk Management Framework. Define data handling: PII, client confidential, cross-border, and retention.
- Days 31-60: Embed and enable. Integrate approved tools into DMS/CLM/email/templates. Create task-level playbooks (matter intake, first draft, review, filing). Launch small-group training tied to live matters. Add prompt guidance, disclosure language, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints.
- Days 61-90: Prove value and tighten risk. Track cycle time, rework rates, quality checks, and adoption by practice. Cut off duplicative tools. Implement prompt logging, access controls, and redaction defaults. Align with privacy counsel; use resources like the IAPP resources on AI and privacy. Publish a monthly AI scorecard to partners and GC staff.

- Adoption: active users, usage by matter type, and tool coverage across practices.
- Risk: policy exceptions, shadow AI incidents, and privacy/ethics flags.

What to do next
