Free tech support event targets Flint seniors struggling with devices and AI
Senior AI Education will host a free "Bring Your Device" event on May 15 at 2 p.m. at the Flint Public Library's Mott Room. Seniors can bring smartphones, tablets, or laptops to receive one-on-one help from technology professionals.
The session covers common problems: device settings, email access, passwords, apps, internet connectivity, and artificial intelligence tools. Organizers designed the event to reduce the anxiety many older adults feel when asking tech questions.
"This event is about making sure seniors feel supported, not overwhelmed, by technology," said Sherrod Pigee, director of Senior AI Education. "Whether someone needs help with a phone, laptop, email, apps, or understanding AI tools, we want them to know they are not alone."
Who should attend
The event targets seniors across Flint and Mid-Michigan. Community groups, churches, caregivers, and families can help spread the word to older adults who need additional support.
Why educators should care
For education professionals working with older adults, this event models a practical approach to teaching technology. If you develop curriculum or train seniors, resources like AI for Education and AI Productivity Courses can help you build similar support programs in your own community.
The event reflects a broader shift: seniors increasingly need guidance on digital tools not just for entertainment, but for staying connected, managing finances, and understanding how AI affects their daily lives.
