Shopify Launches Free AI App for Creatives to Speed Up Design Work

Shopify released Tinker, a free mobile app that bundles over 100 AI tools for creating images, videos, logos, and product photography. The app is available now on iOS and Android for users 13 and older.

The app consolidates tasks that typically require multiple subscriptions and different interfaces. Users describe what they want in plain language, and Tinker handles the technical prompting behind the scenes.

What It Does

Tinker organizes tools by output type-product photography, social media videos, logo design, and more. Examples within the app show what each tool produces, helping users learn by seeing results.

The interface is built for people without technical experience. There's no need to learn prompt engineering or navigate complex settings across different platforms.

Real Adoption

Lena, who launched a jewelry brand called Loire, used Tinker to generate over 150 product images for her website. Professional photography typically costs $50 per shot.

Yukiko, founder of Allie Beauty Protein, created product label visuals on her subway commute after her brand went viral. She said the app let her turn commute time into production time.

What Creatives Should Know

The app is free now, but Shopify hasn't announced long-term pricing. Small business owners should monitor whether future monetization changes access.

Early users may face a learning curve integrating the app into their workflow, though Shopify designed it to be simpler than managing multiple tools.

Rousseau Kazi, Shopify's Director of Product, said the goal was to remove barriers to creation. "The time between idea and momentum goes down when creation becomes this accessible," Kazi said.
