Shortcut Launches AI-Powered Agents to Streamline Product Development Workflows
Shortcut for Agents embeds AI teammates into product workflows, speeding up project execution and reducing manual tasks. Korey, an AI assistant, helps manage stories and track progress seamlessly.

Shortcut Introduces AI Agents to Streamline Product Development Workflows
Shortcut, a popular platform for software development teams, has launched Shortcut for Agents, a new feature that embeds AI teammates directly into product and engineering workflows. This update enables teams to assign work to AI agents within Shortcut, speeding up project execution while keeping processes simple and efficient.
Available now and included in Shortcut’s 14-day free trial, Shortcut for Agents allows teams to bring specialized AI agents into their existing development pipelines without switching tools. Stories can be assigned directly to AI agents, who then advance tasks through stages like "In Development" and "Ready for Review," all while maintaining communication within Story comments to keep context clear and accessible.
How Shortcut for Agents Works
- Assign Stories directly to AI agents as Story owners.
- Tag AI agents in comments to involve them in conversations.
- Track AI progress inside Shortcut without leaving the platform.
- Third-party agents like Devin.ai from Cognition Labs can be integrated seamlessly.
- AI agents automate routine task updates, reducing manual busywork.
This setup helps product and engineering teams concentrate on critical, high-impact work while AI handles repetitive or administrative tasks behind the scenes.
Meet Korey: Shortcut’s Intelligent Project Management Agent
Alongside Shortcut for Agents, Shortcut has introduced Korey, an AI project management assistant currently in beta. Korey simplifies story management by writing and structuring Stories, breaking down work into actionable sub-tasks, and transforming vague requirements into precise development plans.
Korey keeps teams aligned by providing real-time status updates, documenting technical decisions, and tracking dependencies. Teams can interact with Korey through a web interface, Slack mentions (@korey), or by assigning Stories within Shortcut. All conversations and updates stay synchronized, making it easy to monitor progress.
Korey’s capabilities will expand over time to include drafting release notes, building Epics and Objectives, and integrating information from other tools to improve project planning and execution.
What This Means for Product Teams
Shortcut for Agents and Korey introduce a new way for human teams and AI to collaborate naturally and efficiently. By integrating AI teammates directly into familiar workflows, Shortcut helps teams ship products faster without adding complexity.
Kurt Schrader, CEO of Shortcut, said, “We believe the best tools don’t add complexity; they make it easier for teams to stay focused on building. With Shortcut for Agents and Korey, we’re making AI a natural part of how teams ship products.”
