SIAL Paris 2026 to use AI matchmaking for buyer-exhibitor meetings

SIAL Paris will deploy an AI-powered networking platform to connect buyers and exhibitors at its October 2026 edition, addressing a core challenge for trade shows: making the right introductions at the right time.

The food industry event, running 17-21 October at Paris Nord Villepinte, will combine the matchmaking system with a dedicated Meet & Match area, enhanced business lounge, and speed-meeting sessions. The setup aims to reduce the friction of finding relevant contacts across 280,000 square metres of exhibition space.

Demand is strong. About 85% of exhibition space is already booked-a 16% increase compared with the previous edition at the same stage. Fine food, meat, poultry, and cereals sectors are near capacity, while sweet goods, frozen products, and beverages are gaining momentum.

The show expects around 8,000 exhibitors and 295,000 visitors across 10 sectors. UK suppliers already confirmed include AHDB, Quality Meat Scotland, Wyke Farms, Ahmad Tea, and English Tea Shop.

What's new beyond the AI platform

SIAL Paris marks its 30th anniversary by integrating SIAL Taste, a separate offering that lets visitors experience new food products firsthand. Over 650 start-ups are expected, with around 150 in a dedicated start-up area and a pitch stage for direct investor access.

The show will run parallel conference sessions-SIAL Summit and SIAL Talks-covering food systems sustainability, traceability, artificial intelligence in agri-food, and changing consumer behaviour. A SIAL for Change section will showcase corporate responsibility initiatives and host a jobs fair.

Sector-specific guided tours led by expert partners will help visitors navigate the scale of the event and focus on targeted categories.

For event professionals managing large-scale trade shows, the AI matchmaking model demonstrates how automation can reduce administrative burden while improving attendee experience. AI for Hospitality & Events covers similar applications across the sector, while AI Agents & Automation explores the underlying technology behind these systems.
