SS&C launches AI agents to simplify financial services and healthcare operations

SS&C Technologies has introduced an AI agent catalogue built for operations teams in financial services and healthcare. Delivered as a managed service, these agents handle high-friction work like credit processing and contract validation so teams can clear bottlenecks without adding headcount.

Each agent is built and stress-tested inside SS&C's own operations before reaching customers. The promise: faster cycle times, fewer errors, and measurable ROI with governance baked in.

Real customer use: American Life

American Life, an annuity and retirement carrier based in Lincoln, Nebraska, is evaluating SS&C's Credit Agreement Document Agent to streamline private credit workflows. The agent continuously reviews and updates lengthy loan documents, cutting time and manual touchpoints.

"SS&C's AI agent offering stood out due to its successful implementation within the firm's own operations," said Georgette Nicholas, CEO, American Life. "The ability to update credit agreements almost in real time will be transformative allowing our team to focus on higher-value work instead of manual upkeep. This adoption reinforces our commitment to advancing innovation within the annuity and retirement sector."

SS&C reports a significant reduction in credit processing times within its internal operations using the same technology.

How it works

The agents run on the SS&C AI Gateway, an enterprise-grade governance platform that provides secure, auditable access to large language models. Guardrails enforce data loss protection, real-time risk monitoring, and explainability of actions.

Deployment options include hosting the AI Agents and AI Gateway on privately owned GPU infrastructure in ISO-compliant data centers, giving clients full custody of their data. Agents can be deployed as-is or customized through SS&C Agent Services to match specific process rules and document types.

What's in the catalogue

  • Credit processing (e.g., continuous updates to credit agreements)
  • Contract analysis
  • Trade reconciliation and validation
  • Invoice processing
  • Other repeatable, document-heavy workflows across operations

"Intelligent automation and AI have been transformation enablers for our organization, introducing new levels of business and revenue growth at speed and scale," said Rob Stone, General Manager, Intelligent Automation & Analytics at SS&C. "As Customer Zero, we understood the need for tried and tested purpose-built solutions backed by strong governance and experienced support. With this offering, we are aiming to enable our customers to realize value from agentic AI safely, securely and quickly."

Why operations leaders should care

  • Reduce cycle time on long-document work with continuous updates, not periodic reviews
  • Minimize errors and rework from manual data entry and interpretation
  • Scale throughput without scaling headcount
  • Maintain auditability and policy enforcement for regulated processes
  • Choose deployment that fits data residency and security requirements
  • Shorten time-to-value with agents proven in production at SS&C

How to pilot in 30-60 days

  • Pick a document-heavy process with a growing backlog and clear SLAs
  • Define success metrics upfront (turnaround time, error rate, touches per item)
  • Assemble a representative document set and approve exception paths
  • Map approvals and compliance rules the agent must follow
  • Decide on hosting model and security controls
  • Run a shadow-mode pilot, then move to supervised production with tight feedback loops
