St. Kitts and Nevis Taps Taiwan's IntelliGen to Launch AI 3D Medical Imaging Across Its Health System

St. Kitts and Nevis moves to AI-driven 3D imaging with Taiwan partnership

St. Kitts and Nevis has signed a Letter of Intent with Taiwan's IntelliGen Technology Co., Ltd. to bring Anatomy Cloud-its AI 3D medical imaging software-into the national healthcare system. The focus is practical: sharper clinical views, faster decision support, and stronger medical education.

Anatomy Cloud converts conventional 2D medical scans into detailed 3D images in about three to five minutes. For clinicians, that means clearer spatial context, better case discussions, and more confidence when planning interventions or explaining options to patients.

Agreement details and partners

The agreement was signed on December 4 at the World Premiere Conference on AI 3D Medical Imaging Standardisation and MR Achievement by His Excellency Ambassador Donya L. Francis on behalf of the Ministry of Health. The initiative supports the Federation's Sustainable Island State Agenda (SISA) and its broader social protection goals, aiming to lift the standard of care across facilities.

IntelliGen has extended similar collaborations to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Tuvalu, and Belize. Microsoft Taiwan will provide server hosting to make the platform available globally.

Mark Chih-wei Ho, Deputy Secretary-General to the President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), highlighted Taiwan's push to share AI capabilities through medical cooperation with its allies.

What this means for healthcare teams

  • Radiology and imaging: Faster 3D views can support case reviews and multidisciplinary meetings without long post-processing queues.
  • Surgical and procedural planning: 3D context helps teams evaluate anatomy, risks, and access routes before they scrub in.
  • Medical education: Clinicians and students can study anatomy and pathology in 3D, using real cases to accelerate learning.
  • Patient communication: 3D visuals can make complex findings easier to explain and improve shared decision-making.

Implementation checks to run now

  • Data governance and privacy: Confirm PHI safeguards, encryption, access controls, and audit trails. Clarify data paths and legal agreements, especially with hosting in Taiwan, and ensure compliance with your local regulations.
  • Workflow integration: Validate PACS/RIS interoperability and imaging standards. If you rely on DICOM, ensure end-to-end compatibility and clear export/import steps. See the DICOM Standard for reference.
  • Connectivity and performance: Check bandwidth and latency for large studies. Set expectations for average 3-5 minute recon times and define fallbacks if network issues occur.
  • Clinical validation: Start with a pilot, compare 2D-only versus 2D+3D workflows, and track review time, case agreement rates, and any change in downstream decisions.
  • Training and change management: Plan focused training for radiologists, surgeons, and educators. Assign local champions and set clear criteria for when 3D is indicated.
  • Ethics and safety: Align with best-practice guidance for AI in health. The WHO's framework on ethics and governance is a solid starting point: WHO AI for Health Guidance.

What to expect next

With the LOI in place, the likely sequence is focused pilots, technical integration with existing systems, and structured clinician training. Done well, converting scans into accurate 3D views in minutes can speed up reviews and make complex cases clearer.
