Tencent has introduced CodeBuddy IDE, an AI-powered platform built to streamline product development, design, and research. Currently in internal testing and accessible by invitation only, this tool targets both experienced developers and those without coding backgrounds, making app creation more accessible.
How CodeBuddy IDE Works
Users can describe the functions they want in natural language. From there, CodeBuddy manages the entire development process—covering product design, feature implementation, debugging, optimization, and cloud deployment.
The platform integrates seamlessly with design and backend tools including Figma, Tencent’s CloudBase (a serverless development service), and Supabase, an open-source alternative to Firebase. Supabase helps automatically generate databases and manage user permissions.
Cloud Deployment and Sharing
Once the project is complete, developers can deploy their applications to the cloud using Tencent’s CloudStudio, a cloud-based integrated development environment. This setup provides a shareable link, allowing easy access across multiple devices.
AI Model Support and Availability
CodeBuddy IDE supports various AI models such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, Tencent Hunyuan, and DeepSeek. Both domestic and international versions are available, though Tencent has yet to announce a public release date.
