AI Therapy Platform The Path Raises $14.3M in Seed Funding
The Path, an AI-powered mental health app, closed a $14.3 million seed round led by Prime Movers Lab. The company counts Tony Robbins as a co-founder alongside Anson Whitmer and Tyler Sheaffer, both former leaders at the Calm meditation app.
The funding round included investors Apolo Anton Ohno, Deontay Wilder, and Designer Fund.
How It Works
The Path operates on a subscription model and uses what the company describes as an "anti-validation architecture." Rather than affirming user concerns, the app challenges users while drawing on clinical frameworks including cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy.
Robbins said in a statement that mental health support has not kept pace with demand. "The gap between hitting rock bottom and getting real help is where too many people disappear," he said.
Market Demand
A March poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that roughly one-third of U.S. adults (32%) have used AI chatbots to seek health information in the past year. About 29% of adults sought information about physical health, while 16% looked for mental health guidance.
Younger adults are more likely to use AI for health information than older adults, particularly for mental health questions.
For healthcare professionals managing patient mental wellness, understanding AI for Healthcare applications and how generative AI and LLM systems work can help inform decisions about patient care options and digital mental health tools.
