Turing Labs Launches Domain Trained AI Agents to Boost CPG Innovation
Software developer Turing Labs is introducing a new suite of domain trained AI agents this August, aiming to jumpstart stalled innovation in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) sector. According to CEO Manmit Shrimali, these AI agents help companies move beyond product conceptualization to achieve what he calls “execution excellence.”
Post-pandemic, CPG companies, retailers, and co-manufacturers have faced significant hurdles. Supply chain disruptions, labor shortages, limited capital, and a distributor focus on high-demand SKUs during COVID-19 have all contributed to a slowdown in meaningful innovation. Contrary to common belief, the issue isn’t a lack of ideas—AI can generate concepts quickly—but rather the challenge lies in executing those ideas effectively.
The Execution Challenge
Shrimali points out that many companies generate multiple AI-driven product concepts but fail to launch any. He attributes this to an over-reliance on electronic workbooks and the hope that simply inputting data into a “magic box” will eventually yield actionable AI insights. This approach, he says, has left companies stuck with legacy systems that are unpopular but unavoidable. The push for full digital transformation adds pressure, but few organizations know how to start or manage a complete system overhaul efficiently.
Introducing Turing’s Luna AI
Turing Labs is addressing these challenges with Luna AI, an intelligent R&D assistant enhanced by the company’s new domain trained agents. These agents are designed to be configured and deployed at scale across enterprises, focusing on the company’s key performance indicators (KPIs) to systematically manage tasks that lead to commercialization.
What sets these agents apart is their dual capability: they are not only skilled in driving innovation but also built to support digital transformation efforts. This means companies don’t have to worry about deciding which data to collect or how to integrate it—Luna AI agents handle those tasks automatically.
How Luna AI Works
Using Luna AI is straightforward. Users simply type a question or KPI into a search field, and the AI agents take over. For example, if a company wants a competitive landscape assessment for a product, the agents pull up top competitors and display detailed attributes such as taste, nutritional value, price versus value, formulation quality, and shelf life. Each attribute is categorized (e.g., ‘high’ or ‘medium’) to clarify its impact compared to others.
Previously, companies might have purchased dashboards and spent hours connecting and analyzing data. Luna AI removes those steps by being highly trained in the CPG domain, delivering answers proactively without requiring users to learn complex software or manage electronic notebook systems.
Results and Availability
Leading CPG companies are already seeing benefits from Luna AI, including faster product innovation, quicker execution to market, and cost savings. After collaborating with these early adopters to refine the tool, Turing Labs is preparing to make Luna AI available to a broader audience.
Initially, companies will join a waitlist but can expect access within weeks. This new tool promises to reduce the friction between ideation and execution, making innovation more actionable for product development teams.
