The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs recognizes Udayana University's "Road to AI Center" initiative as a key step in positioning Bali as a leader in applying artificial intelligence to cultural and tourism sectors.
Minister Meutya Hafid emphasized the need for broad collaboration between the government and educational institutions to prepare Indonesia’s 280 million population for AI adoption. She highlighted digital literacy as a foundational aspect of this preparation.
"The initiative to develop AI for cultural and tourism purposes aligns well with Bali's regional strengths," the minister said. She added that universities should leverage local potential when integrating AI technologies.

Regarding regulation, the government is preparing guidelines to ensure AI is used safely and ethically. These may take the form of Government or Presidential Regulations, initially focusing on an AI roadmap, followed by frameworks addressing ethical and security concerns.
