Unity Launches AI Assistant Suite for Game Developers

Unity has released a suite of AI tools in open beta for developers using Unity 6 or above. The core feature is the Agentic Assistant, a smart helper that works within game projects to help developers understand their code and use Unity's tools more effectively.

The toolset includes Plan mode for designing implementation steps and Skills, which provides expert guidance in areas like UI creation and scene setup. Developers also get instant rollback of changes and tools to generate placeholder assets, including materials, sounds, cubemaps, and 2D or 3D assets.

How It Works

Developers can connect to preferred AI tools within the Unity editor through an AI gateway. The system also supports external coding tools and large language models via Unity's Model Context Protocol (MCP) server.

Unity Pro, Enterprise, and Industry subscribers automatically receive these features and credits when they install the Assistant package. Unity Personal Edition users can start a free 14-day trial with 1,000 AI credits, then subscribe for $10 per month for the same credit allowance.

Business Context

The move aligns with Unity's recent strategic shift toward higher-growth segments. In 2025, the company launched Vector, an AI-powered ad network that accounted for 56% of total Grow Solutions revenue in its most recent financial results.

Unity said it expects Vector "to deliver strong growth each quarter, driving results meaningfully above guidance." To focus on this area, the company announced the closure of its IronSource advertising and user acquisition network and the divestment of mobile publisher Supersonic.
