UnityAI raises $8.5M to scale agentic AI workforce for healthcare operations

UnityAI closed an $8.5 million Series A, bringing total funding to $15 million. Third Prime led the round with participation from Whistler Capital Partners, Nashville Capital Network, Company Ventures, Max Ventures and other existing investors.

The company builds agentic AI agents that take on routine, high-volume tasks inside clinics and health systems. The new capital will support go-to-market expansion and improvements to its AI stack.

What UnityAI's agents do

  • Patient scheduling and reminders
  • Intake and data collection
  • Patient outreach and retention
  • Insurance verification and eligibility
  • Inbound calls and financial clearance

The aim is simple: keep work moving when volumes spike or workflows change, without adding headcount.

Why this matters for providers

  • Fewer bottlenecks: faster scheduling, fewer back-and-forth calls, and shorter waitlists.
  • Cleaner revenue: faster eligibility checks and fewer errors before claims go out.
  • Lower no-shows: proactive reminders and outreach tied to patient preferences.
  • Extended coverage: agents handle routine inbound calls and follow-ups off-hours.
  • Staff relief: frontline teams spend more time on clinical work instead of repetitive admin.

Market snapshot

UnityAI partnered with Peregrine Health to deploy "Emma," a virtual care navigator supporting patient engagement across Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). For context on FQHCs, see the HRSA overview.

The company raised $4 million in seed funding in 2024. Other agentic AI players include Hyro, which raised $45 million for its platform, and Assort Health, which secured a $76 million Series B (total raise: $102 million).

Investor perspective

Wes Barton, general partner at Third Prime: "UnityAI keeps work moving in environments that are unpredictable, high-volume, and constantly changing. The team has shown they can deploy systems that operate reliably in real-world conditions and deliver measurable results for providers, which is why we're excited to lead this round."

What to watch next

  • EHR and PMS integrations: breadth and depth across major vendors will determine speed to value.
  • Measurable outcomes: reductions in no-shows, faster eligibility resolution, and higher self-pay collections.
  • Safety and compliance: audit trails, PHI handling, and role-based access must be standard.
  • Change management: clear SOPs and agent supervision to avoid workflow drift.
