Member universities of the University of Da Nang (UD) are actively enhancing teaching and learning quality by collaborating with domestic and international experts. This effort focuses on sharing knowledge and experience while accelerating the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into research and education. These initiatives are fostering innovation throughout the academic community.
Boosting Teaching Effectiveness with AI Integration
UD’s member universities have recently organized seminars and training sessions aimed at equipping both students and faculty with practical skills in AI application. These programs help learners keep pace with technological trends and prepare them for Industry 4.0 demands.
Vu Hoang Quan, a senior Hydraulic Engineering student at the University of Science and Technology, shared that short-term courses provided valuable insights into AI's role in education. “AI supports learning and personal growth by improving presentation, critical thinking, and time management skills,” he said.
Dr. Trinh Cong Duy, an IT lecturer and AI trainer, highlighted the importance of understanding AI fundamentals and applying them thoughtfully. “AI speeds up learning and enhances soft skills like creativity and problem-solving,” he explained. However, he also noted that meaningful use of AI depends on the ability to analyze and interpret its outputs effectively.
Faculty members across UD’s universities receive ongoing training on AI tools for teaching, creating digital content, and conducting research. Topics include designing AI-augmented lectures and assessments and utilizing platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and NotebookLM to streamline academic tasks.
Embracing Digital Technology and AI
The University of Da Nang is advancing AI integration not only in teaching and research but also in governance. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Le Hung, Rector of the University of Technology and Education, noted that AI brings both opportunities and challenges. Institutions and faculty must adopt innovation and develop the capacity to apply AI effectively in the digital era.
This integration improves the skills of lecturers and students alike and supports a flexible learning environment. To aid this transition, the university is expanding advanced AI training programs that enhance instructional quality and operational efficiency.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Hai, Vice Rector of the University of Science and Technology, stressed the importance of faculty empowerment. He pointed out that equipping educators with AI tools and the right mindset is essential for curriculum design and digital content development.
At the Viet Nam - Korea University of Information and Communication Technology, AI is a key strategic focus. Since 2021, its AI Engineering program has attracted about 1,000 students annually. The curriculum aligns with international standards and workforce needs, preparing students for global job markets.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap, the University’s Rector, proposed expanding international cooperation through joint degree programs and postgraduate research in AI, big data, and cybersecurity. These steps aim to standardize academic outcomes, boost global recognition, and establish joint research centers focused on AI applications in agriculture, healthcare, and smart city development.
