West Virginia Universities Host Conference on AI and Robotics in Education and Work
West Virginia University, Marshall University, and two regional foundations will host the Focus Forward conference on April 1 to examine how artificial intelligence and robotics are changing education, employment, and daily life. More than 550 business, government, education and community leaders have registered for the event.
The conference runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place. A reception follows immediately after.
What's on the agenda
Focus Forward is the eighth annual conference organized by WVU, the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative, the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation, and Marshall University. Each year the conference examines emerging issues that affect West Virginia's economy, education, workforce, and communities.
Past conferences have covered machine learning, big data, supercomputing, and longevity. This year's focus on AI for Education and robotics reflects how these technologies are already present in schools and workplaces across the state.
Speakers include experts from national, state, and local organizations. They will discuss how West Virginia can prepare its workforce, support innovation, attract businesses, and grow the economy in response to these technological shifts.
Who should attend
The conference targets education leaders, business executives, government officials, and community organizations. Attendees will hear from practitioners working on Generative AI and LLM applications in schools and industries across the region.
The Discover the Real West Virginia Foundation will host a reception at the conference venue following the day's sessions.
