Zain Kuwait Introduces AI-Powered Digital Assistant for Wireless Site Engineers
Zain Kuwait has launched the Digital Assistant for Wireless Site Engineers, becoming the first in the region to integrate this type of artificial intelligence technology into the operations and maintenance of its technical infrastructure. This initiative is part of Zain’s ongoing efforts to improve network infrastructure and speed up digital innovation, resulting in better service quality and enhanced customer experience on its network—recognized as the best and fastest in Kuwait.
The Digital Assistant, named FME Mate, was developed in partnership with Huawei. It uses advanced large language model (LLM) technologies to accurately identify and analyze faults, then suggests instant repair solutions. Thanks to its natural language interface, site engineers no longer need to input complex system commands. Instead, they can quickly access fault data and connection topologies, improving fault-handling efficiency by over 20 percent in nearly 90 percent of cases.
This tool is expected to reduce site downtime by more than 2,250 hours annually, streamlining maintenance and ensuring smoother network operations.
Insights from Zain’s CTO
Daaij Al-Oud, Chief Technology Officer of Zain Kuwait, emphasized that the Digital Assistant reflects the company’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation within its technical operations. He highlighted that integrating AI technologies will significantly improve service quality and network reliability, supporting Kuwait’s vision to become a regional hub for the digital economy.
Al-Oud also mentioned that Zain will continue to explore intelligent solutions with its partners to develop a more advanced digital ecosystem capable of meeting future demands.
Operational Benefits and Industry Impact
This AI-driven solution underlines Zain Kuwait’s leadership in adopting new technologies to optimize operations and maintenance. It ensures consistent delivery of high-quality digital services for consumer, corporate, and government clients.
By using generative AI to support proactive fault management and speed up response times, Zain is setting new standards for intelligent network maintenance. The success of this initiative opens opportunities to expand smart applications across other network areas.
For professionals in operations, this development is a clear example of how AI can improve efficiency and reduce downtime in technical environments, making workflows smoother and more effective.
