Dr. Wong Hin Yong, Vice President, Academic and Innovative Learning, MMU; and Mr. Steven Ge, Managing Director, ZTE (Malaysia) Corporation Sdn. Bhd., during the exchange of the ZTE-MMU AI Strategic Collaboration Addendum.
What's new
The addendum equips MMU with ZTE's AiCube AI education and compute platform plus smart classroom solutions. AiCube combines high-performance AI computing with an interactive learning environment to accelerate practical learning and project delivery.
Access will be shared between MMU students and JPA program participants, creating a joint testbed for AI and cybersecurity learning, applied research, and pilot projects.
Why it matters for IT and development teams
- Stronger talent pipeline: Hands-on access to compute and labs that map directly to in-demand skills across AI, cybersecurity, wireless, and core networks.
- Certification at scale: MMU is an authorised training and examination center for ZTE Certification across 5G, AI, cybersecurity, wireless, and core networks.
- Real-world environments: 5G end-to-end labs in Cyberjaya and Melaka support prototyping, testing, and integration work with modern network stacks.
- Public sector collaboration: Joint cohorts help engineers and government officers build practical skills that transfer into production systems.
Highlights from the collaboration so far
- Development of 5G end-to-end laboratories in Cyberjaya and Melaka, giving students and researchers a live environment to explore next-generation technologies.
- Scholarships from ZTE to support promising students and widen access to technical education.
- MMU appointed as an authorised ZTE Certification training and exam center covering 5G, AI, cybersecurity, wireless, and core networks.
- Launch of MMU's NexGen Communication Engineering Hub (2023), built on four pillars: professional skills development, creativity, research excellence, and industry collaboration.
- Public sector upskilling via the ACE: Digital Frontier for Smart Government program. After nearly six months of training across seven major cities in China, the final milestone concluded in Beijing, followed by a closing ceremony at MMU Cyberjaya on December 3.
