13-Week Cash Flow Forecast Agent

An updated 13-week cash forecast with variances explained and shortfalls flagged

13-Week Cash Flow Forecast Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Finance leaders need to see a cash shortfall weeks ahead, but rolling the 13-week forecast by hand takes a full day. This agent rolls it forward each week. It loads actual cash from bank data, compares it to last week's forecast and explains the biggest variances by line: customer receipts, payroll, vendor payments and debt service. It then rebuilds the next 13 weeks from open receivables, payables, payroll calendars and known one-offs. It checks every week against the policy floor and covenant needs. If a week dips below the floor, it tests at least two options, such as delaying discretionary spend or drawing on the credit line, and shows each effect. The finance leader approves the forecast and any action. Edge case: a large customer pays early, so the agent removes that receipt from later weeks instead of counting it twice.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

An example run

What happensFor the week ending September 12, receipts came in $310,000 under forecast because two customers paid late. The rebuilt forecast showed week 6 at $0.8 million against a $1.5 million floor, so the check failed. The agent modeled delaying a $500,000 equipment payment and a $300,000 line draw and reran the weeks. The CFO approved the delay, which kept every week above the floor.
