What it does

Subsidiary rights, such as audio, translation and film, can be sold in conflict, or lapse without anyone noticing the reversion date. This agent reads the contracts and builds a register of rights granted, territories, formats, terms and reversion windows. It flags conflicts, such as two deals for the same language, and approaching reversion windows. It drafts a reversion request when rights are due to return, and rechecks the register after the publisher replies. The author approves each request. Edge case: an audio right is granted worldwide in English but a separate deal covers audio in the UK, so the agent flags the overlap.
