AI agent for police officers
Body Camera Tagging and Retention Agent
Every video has a correct tag, retention period and no deletion that conflicts with a hold or open case
What it does
Body camera video is kept for different times depending on the type of incident, and untagged files fall into the default period. This agent matches each video to an incident using the time, location and officer data. It checks the tags against the retention schedule, for example a use-of-force or arrest requires longer retention than a routine contact. It flags untagged files and files whose tag does not match the incident. It proposes the correct category and the retention change for each. After officers correct the tags, it checks the system again. It also lists files due for deletion in the next 14 days and checks each one for holds or open cases before deletion is proposed. A supervisor approves all deletions. Edge case: a video tagged routine that appears in an open complaint is held.
How it works
Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.
Read the steps as a list
- Daily run
- List new and untagged videos with metadata
- Match each video to an incident by time, place and officer
- Compare the tag with the incident type and the retention schedule
- Does each video have a tag that matches its incident? If not: propose a category and ask the officer to confirm. Back to step 3.
- Update the retention period for corrected tags
- List files due for deletion in the next 14 days
- Is any due file linked to a hold, complaint or open case?If not: remove it from the deletion list and extend the retention. Back to step 6.
- Supervisor approves deletionsThe agent waits here for your OK.
- Tagging report and approved deletion list
How it decides
The tag must match the incident type, and the retention comes from the schedule. A deletion is proposed only when no hold or open case is linked.
- Treat an untagged video as needing review, not as routine
- Hold any video linked to a complaint, hold or open case
- Flag deletions 14 days before they occur
- Use the longer period when two categories apply
