Competitor Price Tracking Agent

Accurate weekly view of competitor prices

Competitor Price Tracking Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Competitor prices change often, and promotions make it hard to see what really moved. Each week this agent collects prices for a fixed product list from competitor websites and retailers. It matches like-for-like products by size and features, separates regular and promotional prices, and checks for collection errors such as a price scraped from the wrong pack size. If a product is missing or a price looks invalid, it collects again or matches by specs before going on. It then compares with last week and flags changes above your threshold. It writes a short price movement report with the biggest changes first. You decide on any pricing response and approve before the report is shared. Edge case: a product renamed by a competitor is matched by its specs rather than dropped from the list.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

An example run

What happensIn the week of March 16 the agent collected prices for 120 products across four retailers. Its check found 6 products unmatched because one competitor renamed its 500 ml range. It went back, matched them by size and ingredients, and confirmed all 120. Two prices were promotions and stayed separate. The regular price of a rival shampoo rose 9%, above the 5% threshold. The analyst reviewed and approved the report.
