AI agent for data protection officers

Data Protection Impact Assessment Agent

Assessments completed before launch with risks controlled

Data Protection Impact Assessment Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

New projects often start using personal data before anyone asks whether the risks have been assessed. When a project or system is proposed, this agent screens it for whether an impact assessment is needed, such as for sensitive data, large scale or automated decisions. If so, it drafts the assessment: data types, purposes, lawful basis, flows, retention, risks and controls, and sends questions to the project team. It checks answers for gaps such as missing retention or an unclear lawful basis and follows up until they are complete. It rates each risk, proposes controls and checks the risk that remains after controls. If high risk remains, it flags possible regulator consultation. The DPO approves the assessment. Edge case: the project uses AI to score customers, which raises rules on automated decisions.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

An example run

What happensIn February, marketing proposed a churn scoring tool using customer purchase data. The screen showed an assessment was needed. The completeness check failed because the team had not stated retention. After a follow-up, they set it at 24 months. Risk was high because scores drove offers, so the agent proposed human review of scores. Remaining risk was medium and the DPO approved.
