AI agent for packaging engineers

Distribution Test Scheduling Agent

Complete all required package tests before the launch date, or give a new date early.

Distribution Test Scheduling Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Shipping and shelf-life tests take weeks, and if they are booked late a launch slips. This agent lists the tests each package needs, such as drop, vibration, compression and shelf life, based on the package type and the market. It books the lab, sets dates against the launch date and tracks the results as they come in. When a test fails, it plans a retest with the design change and moves the launch date for the engineer's approval. It checks that the retest result passes before the plan closes. Edge case: a shelf-life test that takes 12 weeks and cannot be sped up pushes the launch date at once.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

Read the steps as a list
  1. Package added to the launch plan
  2. List the tests required for the package and market
  3. Check lab availability
  4. Plan test dates back from the launch date
  5. Engineer approves the test planThe agent waits here for your OK.
  6. Book the lab and send samples
  7. Track results as they arrive
  8. Did the test pass?If not: Plan a retest with the design change and recalculate the launch date. Back to step 7.
  9. Does the retest fit before the launch date?If not: Ask the engineer to approve a new launch date. Back to step 3.
  10. All tests passed and recorded

How it decides

It works back from the launch date to book each test and moves the date when a test cannot fit.

  • Book tests at least 8 weeks before launch for shelf-life
  • Use the standard for the shipping method
  • Flag a test that cannot fit within the launch window
  • Retest on design changes only

Make it yours

Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.

  • Tests required by package type
  • Booking lead time
  • Lab choices
  • Retest rule

What keeps you in control

It always asks you first

  • Engineer approves test plans and any launch date change

Hard limits

  • Never skip a required test
  • Never change a launch date without approval

It stops when

  • Done: every required test passes
  • Stop: a design change is needed and the engineer decides

An example run

What happensA new pouch needs drop, vibration and a 12 week shelf-life test, with launch in 16 weeks. The agent books all three. The drop test fails at 1.2 meters. The engineer changes the seal width. The agent plans a retest in week 5. It passes, and the launch stays. The shelf-life result arrives in week 13.
