Domestic Violence Case Follow-Up Agent

Every case receives timely contact and referral checks, with rising risk escalated quickly

Domestic Violence Case Follow-Up Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Domestic violence cases need quick follow-up: a contact with the victim within days, a check that a protective order is in place and referrals to advocates and shelters. With a heavy caseload, follow-up slips, and the risk of repeat violence rises. This agent tracks each open case with its dates and what has been done. It schedules follow-up contacts by a set protocol, checks the record for protective orders, bail conditions and referrals made, and flags any missing. It also looks for signs of rising risk, such as repeated calls to the address, a violation of an order or a weapon noted in the file. After each contact it updates the case and rechecks the plan. If risk signs rise, it prepares an escalation summary. The supervisor approves any escalation. Edge case: the victim asks for no contact by phone, and the agent changes the contact method.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

It follows a schedule set by the department protocol and raises a case when risk factors such as repeated calls, order violations or weapons appear.

  • Contact the victim within 72 hours of the report
  • Escalate when two or more risk signs are present
  • Use the victim's preferred contact method
  • Verify order service within 5 days

Make it yours

Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.

  • Contact schedule by protocol
  • Risk signs that count toward escalation
  • Preferred contact options
  • Referral partners

What keeps you in control

It always asks you first

  • Officer confirmation of each contact plan
  • Supervisor approval of any escalation

Hard limits

  • Never contacts a victim or suspect itself
  • Keeps case information strictly restricted
  • Does not replace officer judgment

It stops when

  • Done: case closed by the department
  • Stop: the victim cannot be reached after the protocol attempts

An example run

What happensIn a case opened Monday, the agent scheduled a contact for Wednesday. It found a protective order not yet served and no advocate referral, so the status check failed. It assigned both to the officer. After Wednesday's contact, the call history showed three calls to the address in 10 days, and the suspect was reported near the home. Two risk signs triggered an escalation. The supervisor approved it.
