AI agent for customs brokers
Duty and Trade Agreement Eligibility Agent
Correct duty with every valid saving claimed and every extra duty applied
What it does
Duty depends on the code, value, origin, trade agreements and extra duties like anti-dumping or retaliatory tariffs, and missing a valid agreement costs clients real money. For each entry line, this agent looks up rates, fees and extra duty lists for that code and origin, and calculates duty and taxes. It then checks whether a trade agreement could apply by reviewing its origin rules against the supplier's bill of materials. It claims an agreement rate only when the origin rules are met and valid proof is on file. If proof is missing or expired, it uses the general rate, notes the possible saving, drafts a request to the supplier, and recalculates once proof arrives. A supplier change triggers a new origin review. The broker approves the duty claim. Edge case: a product that changed suppliers mid-year needs a new origin review before any claim.
How it works
Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.
