AI agent for newsletter writers

Guest Contributor Pipeline Agent

Every issue slot has an accepted, on-brief guest piece ready before the send date.

Guest Contributor Pipeline Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Guest pieces fill issues, but one late or off-topic draft can leave an empty slot on send day. This agent tracks each contributor from pitch to draft. It sends the brief and deadline, then checks the draft when it arrives against the brief and style rules for topic, length, tone, sources and links. It sends clear revision notes and waits for the second draft. If a draft slips, it reschedules the issue slot and suggests a backup piece from the reserve list. It keeps a board of who owes what and by when. The writer approves acceptance and the issue slot. Edge case: a draft arrives on time but ignores the brief, so the agent returns it with notes instead of passing it forward.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

It accepts a draft when it meets topic, length and style rules, and reassigns the slot when a draft is more than 2 days late.

  • Remind 2 days before the deadline.
  • Reassign the slot when a draft is over 2 days late.
  • Allow at most 2 revision rounds.
  • Check every claim and link in a guest draft.

Make it yours

Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.

  • Brief template
  • Revision rounds allowed (default 2)
  • Lateness limit (default 2 days)
  • Reserve list

What keeps you in control

It always asks you first

  • Writer approves acceptance and the issue slot

Hard limits

  • Never publish a guest piece unedited
  • Do not promise a slot before the writer approves it

It stops when

  • Done: piece accepted and scheduled.
  • Stop: contributor withdraws, so a reserve piece is chosen.

An example run

What happensA guest agreed to deliver 600 words on October 8 for the October 15 issue. The draft arrived at 1,100 words and off topic, so the check failed. The agent sent notes with a trimmed outline. The second draft came on October 11 and met the brief. The writer approved the piece for the October 15 slot.
