AI agent for computer science students

Lecture Gap Finder Agent

Find the gaps in understanding early and close them with checked practice

Lecture Gap Finder Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

A student reads the notes the night before the exam and discovers a whole topic is missing. This agent compares the student's lecture notes with the syllabus and with past exam problems and lists topics that are missing or thin. It sets practice problems on those topics, checks the student's answers by running code or comparing with worked solutions, and notes which are wrong and why. It then loops on weak topics with new problems of the same type, with gradually harder variations, until the student gets them right twice. It builds a revision plan for the days left. The student approves the plan. Edge case: a topic is in the syllabus but the lecturer skipped it, so the agent marks it as lower priority and asks the student.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

It ranks topics by exam weight and the student's error rate and keeps setting problems on a topic until two in a row are correct.

  • Rank topics by past exam frequency
  • Require two correct answers in a row to close a topic
  • Raise difficulty after each correct answer
  • Mark skipped syllabus topics as lower priority until confirmed

Make it yours

Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.

  • Exam date
  • Topics and weights
  • Study time per day
  • Practice problem difficulty
  • Language for code problems

What keeps you in control

It always asks you first

  • Student approves the revision plan
  • Student confirms topics the lecturer skipped

Hard limits

  • Never write graded work for the student
  • Use only the student's own notes and public past papers

It stops when

  • Done: every ranked topic is closed or scheduled
  • Stop: the student has no time left and the plan is cut to the top topics

An example run

What happensEighteen days before a data structures exam, the agent found the notes had nothing on balanced trees and thin coverage of hash tables. It set 5 problems on AVL rotations. The student got the first two wrong, so the check failed. It explained the double rotation and set a similar problem. Two correct in a row closed the topic. The student approved a plan covering hash tables next.
