AI agent for police officers
Missing Person Case Update Agent
Every open missing person case is reviewed on schedule, with each action tracked until done.
What it does
Missing person cases run for weeks or months, and without a review schedule the new tips and database hits sit unread. The agent keeps a review calendar for each open case. At each review it reads new tips, checks national and local database matches for the person, and checks the family contact log for new information. It lists what changed, proposes next actions such as a welfare check, a records request or a family call, and assigns each one a due date. At the next review it checks whether each action was done and what came back, and replans if not. The detective approves every action and any public release. Edge case: a tip that names a specific address goes to the detective at once, not into the weekly list.
How it works
Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.
Read the steps as a list
- Weekly review or new tip
- Read the case file, tip log and database results
- Check database matches for the person
- List what is new since the last review
- Propose next actions with due dates
- Detective approves the actions and any public releaseThe agent waits here for your OK.
- Log actions and create tasks
- Were last review's actions done and answered? If not: Carry them over with a new due date, flag overdue ones to the detective and rerun the update. Back to step 2.
- Did the new information change the risk or the lead?If not: Re-rank the case and rebuild the action list. Back to step 2.
- Updated case review and action list
How it decides
It ranks cases by days since the last action and tip strength, and carries unfinished actions to the next review.
- A named address or credible sighting goes to the detective immediately
- A case with no action in 14 days is flagged
- Overdue actions carry over and are flagged
- Any public statement needs approval
Make it yours
Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.
- Review interval in days (default 7)
- Days before a case is flagged stale
- Databases to check
- Who receives the weekly list
- Priority rules by age or risk
What keeps you in control
It always asks you first
- Detective approves all actions
- Detective approves any public release
Hard limits
- Never contact a family or the public without detective approval
- Never share case data outside the case team
- Always escalate immediate-danger tips at once
It stops when
- Done: every open case has a current review and no overdue action
- Stop: a tip suggests immediate danger and the detective is alerted
