What it does

A notary journal with missing fields or overcharged fees can lead to fines or a lost commission. After each notarization, this agent checks the journal entry. It confirms every field the state requires: date, time, act, document type, signer name and address, ID details, fee and signature. It compares the entry to the appointment record and the notarial certificate. Missing or inconsistent fields are flagged right away so the notary can fix them while details are fresh. Each month it audits all entries and checks that fees do not exceed state limits. Any overcharge is flagged for a refund. The notary makes corrections as the state allows. Edge case: a fee charged was above the state maximum, so the agent flags it for refund.
