AI agent for chief product officers

Quarterly Board Product Update Agent

An accurate, consistent board product update that accounts for every prior commitment

Quarterly Board Product Update Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Every quarter the CPO must explain what shipped, what moved the numbers and what changed in the plan, and the facts live in five places. This agent gathers shipped releases, roadmap changes, product metrics and customer themes for the quarter. It drafts the board section: progress against last quarter's commitments, metric movement, decisions made and asks of the board. It checks every number against the metrics source and the finance pack, and every commitment against last quarter's deck. When a number does not match, it re-pulls the source and fixes or flags it. When a past commitment is missing from the update, it adds a line with its status. The CPO decides the story, the asks and what to say about misses. Edge case: a metric whose definition changed mid-quarter is shown with a note, not compared directly.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

Every prior commitment must appear with a status; numbers must match their source within rounding, or carry a note.

  • Every prior commitment appears as done, moved or dropped with a reason
  • Number mismatch beyond rounding is corrected or footnoted
  • Changed metric definitions are shown with a note
  • Asks of the board are limited to three unless the CPO adds more

Make it yours

Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.

  • Section structure
  • Lead time before meeting (default 3 weeks)
  • Maximum asks (default 3)
  • Metric list shown to the board

What keeps you in control

It always asks you first

  • CPO approves the narrative and asks
  • CFO signs off shared numbers

Hard limits

  • Never sends material to the board
  • Never rewords a missed commitment as complete

It stops when

  • Done: section signed off
  • Stop: finance pack not final in time

An example run

What happensFor the Q3 board, the draft showed weekly active teams at 12,400, but the metrics source said 12,040 after a bot filter fix. The agent corrected it and added a note. Two of seven Q2 commitments were missing; it added that SSO shipped and that offline mode moved to Q1. Dana, the CPO, rewrote the asks section and the CFO signed off.
