AI agent for journalists
Right of Reply and Comment Request Agent
Every named party gets a clear, timely right of reply, and the final text reflects each response
What it does
Requests for comment go out late or are vague, and a missed reply can sink a story. This agent lists every person and organization named in the draft, drafts a specific comment request for each with the claims to respond to and a deadline, and tracks replies. It flags missing responses and adds replies to the draft. Before publication, it rechecks that every named party has had a fair chance and that every reply is accurately reflected. The editor approves each request and the final text. Edge case: a person is named only in passing, so the agent flags the mention for editor judgment on whether a request is needed.
How it works
Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides
A party needs a request when the draft makes a claim about them. The deadline must leave time before publication.
- Request comment from any party about whom the draft makes a claim
- Set deadlines at least 24 hours before publication
- Send one reminder before the deadline
- Quote replies exactly

Hard limits
- Never sends a request without approval
- Never changes a reply
It stops when

- Stop: legal review blocks the request
