AI agent for notaries

Signer Identity Verification Agent

Every signer identified according to state rules

Signer Identity Verification Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Identity checks are the core of a notary's job, and a mistake can void the act or expose the notary to liability. At signing, this agent guides the check step by step. It records the ID type, number, expiry and issuer. For remote notarization, it runs credential analysis and knowledge-based checks through the approved platform. It compares the name on the ID with the document. If names differ, such as a missing middle name, it checks state rules on name variations. If any check fails, it stops and lists the allowed options, such as a credible witness where the state permits one. A failed remote check always stops the session. The notary decides whether identity is satisfied. Edge case: the ID says Robert and the document says Bob, which needs a matching name or a signature as shown on the ID.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

An example run

What happensAt a signing on October 8, the agent recorded a state driver's license for Robert J. Lane, valid to 2029. The document named Bob Lane, so the name check failed under state rules. The agent stopped and listed options: sign as on the ID, or have the document corrected. The lender sent a corrected page naming Robert J. Lane. The recheck passed, and the notary confirmed identity and saved the record.
