Social Listening Trend Agent

A weekly brief on real emerging conversation topics

Social Listening Trend Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Online conversation about a brand changes fast, and listening dashboards are full of noise. Each week this agent collects mentions from the listening tool, removes spam and bots, and groups mentions into topics. It compares topic volume and sentiment with the previous four weeks and flags topics growing fast. For each flagged topic it reads a sample to make sure it is real, not one viral post or a keyword mix-up. If it is noise, it refines the keyword rules and reruns. When the brand name is also a common word, it adds exclusion terms and checks the sample again. It drafts a short trend brief. The research manager approves before sharing.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

It flags topics growing faster than set levels with enough unique authors, after confirming relevance on a sample.

  • At least 50 unique authors to count as a trend
  • Growth over 50% vs four-week average flagged
  • Sample relevance below 80% means refine rules

An example run

What happensA topic around the brand name jumped 300%. The sample check failed: 12 of 20 posts were about a TV character with the same name. The agent added exclusion terms and reran. Real growth was 40%, below the flag level. A smaller topic on refill packs grew 85% and passed the sample check. The manager approved the brief.
