AI agent for architects

Specification Coordination Agent

Specs and drawings that agree on products and materials

Specification Coordination Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Specifications are often edited from past projects and drift from the drawings, leading to bids on the wrong products and change orders later. This agent reads the spec sections and the drawings and lists the products and materials named in each. It finds mismatches, such as a product on the drawings that is not in the specs, or spec sections for systems that are not in the project. It checks references to standards for current editions. It also flags leftover text from past projects. Mismatches are listed for the team with their location. After the team edits, it checks again until specs and drawings agree. The architect approves the final spec set before it is issued. Edge case: leftover text from a past project that still names a different client is flagged so it does not reach bidders.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

An example run

What happensBefore the October 20 permit set, the agent compared 48 spec sections with the drawings. The check failed on six items: a roof membrane on the drawings had no spec section, a spec section for a sprinkler type not in the project, and leftover text naming a previous client. It listed the fixes. After edits, the recheck passed, and two standards were updated to current editions. The architect approved the spec set.
