AI agent for chief human resources officers
Succession Slate Diversity Check Agent
Every critical role has a slate that is broad, ready and current, and the leader sees where pipelines are thin.
What it does
Succession lists repeat the same profiles, and talented people are missed. The agent reviews the slates for critical roles, checks pipeline readiness by group, looks for stretch candidates who are not on the list, and flags thin pipelines. It reruns the analysis whenever talent data changes, such as a promotion or an exit. It never ranks people, and it only suggests candidates by skills and experience. Each time it reruns, it shows what changed since the last version. The leader approves what goes to the talent review. Edge case: a role where all named successors are within one year of retirement, so the agent flags a gap that the headcount does not show.
How it works
Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.
Read the steps as a list
- Talent review is scheduled
- Read the critical roles and slates
- Check each slate for depth and readiness
- Compare the pipeline by group with the minimum sizes
- Does each critical role have enough ready successors? If not: Flag it as thin and list the gap. Back to step 4.
- Search talent data for stretch candidates by skills
- List candidates not on any slate
- Leader approves the list for discussionThe agent waits here for your OK.
- Update the slates after the review and rerun the analysis after talent changes
- Are the slates still current and broad? If not: Flag the changes and return to the slate check. Back to step 3.
- Succession review pack
How it decides
It checks each slate for depth, readiness and spread across groups, and proposes stretch candidates from skills and experience, not from group labels.
- Each role needs at least 2 ready successors
- Flag successors within a year of retirement
- Pick stretch candidates by skills only
- Never show group data under the minimum size
Make it yours
Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.
- Number of ready successors needed (default 2)
- Critical roles
- Skills used for stretch candidates

What keeps you in control
It always asks you first
- Leader approves what goes to the talent review
Hard limits
- Never rank people by group
- Do not share the slates beyond the review group
It stops when
- Done: slates reviewed and updated
- Stop: data is out of date and HR must refresh it
