Targeted Resume Tailoring Agent

A tailored resume that truthfully covers the posting's key requirements

Targeted Resume Tailoring Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Each job posting asks for different skills in different words, and applicant tracking systems look for those words. This agent reads a posting and the person's master resume, lists the must-have and nice-to-have requirements, and maps each one to real experience. It rewrites and reorders bullets to use the posting's language where the experience truly matches, putting must-haves in the summary and top bullets. It scores the tailored resume against the posting. If fewer than 80% of must-haves are covered, it asks the person about the missing ones and adds only confirmed experience. It never invents skills, titles or dates. The person or coach approves the resume before it is used. Edge case: when the posting asks for a degree the person lacks, it leaves the gap and suggests addressing it in the cover letter.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

Every must-have requirement is matched to real experience. Bullets are reworded only when the underlying experience fits; unmatched requirements become questions.

  • Never add skills or titles not in the person's history
  • Must-haves come first in the summary and top bullets
  • Unmatched requirements become questions, not claims

Make it yours

Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.

  • Must-have coverage target (default 80%)
  • Resume format and length (default 1 page)
  • Tone (formal, plain, technical)
  • Which sections may be reordered

What keeps you in control

It always asks you first

  • Person approves every resume before it is sent

Hard limits

  • Never invents experience, degrees or titles
  • Never submits applications

It stops when

  • Done: resume covers the must-haves truthfully
  • Stop: person has under half the must-haves; suggest skipping the posting

An example run

What happensA posting for an operations analyst listed SQL, Tableau and vendor management as must-haves. The first draft covered SQL and Tableau but not vendor management, scoring 67%, so the check failed. The agent asked, and the person had managed three cleaning vendors in a prior office job. A bullet was added, coverage reached 100%, and the coach approved the resume on Mar 9.
