AI agent for auditors

Underwriting Guideline Adherence Audit Agent

An evidence-based audit of guideline adherence with trends

Underwriting Guideline Adherence Audit Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Underwriting audits find out whether guidelines are actually followed, but reading files by hand limits how many get checked. Each month this agent audits a sample of bound policies. It reads the underwriting file and checks it against the guidelines: required information, eligible classes, limits, pricing within the rating range, and approvals for exceptions. Missing information is a finding; binding above authority without approval is a serious finding. Before reporting, it confirms each finding by re-reading the file, searching attachments and notes, because documents are often stored in different places. It then keeps or drops the finding. It writes the audit report by underwriter and theme. Managers approve findings and agree corrective actions; the agent never contacts underwriters about results. Edge case: an exception was approved by email rather than in the system, so the agent finds it in attachments before calling it missing.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

An example run

What happensFor the October audit, the agent read 60 bound commercial files and logged 11 findings. Re-reading each file to confirm, it found 3 exceptions approved by email that sat in a separate folder, so it dropped them. The final 8 included 2 binds above the underwriter's authority and 4 missing loss runs. The underwriting manager reviewed the evidence and approved the findings for the quarterly report.
