AI agent for production coordinators

Work Order Release Check Agent

Release only orders that are ready to run.

Work Order Release Check Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Releasing an order to the floor without the right material, tooling or instructions wastes a shift. Before release, this agent checks stock, tooling, routing, staffing and instructions for each order. It holds incomplete orders and requests what is missing from the right owner. After the missing items arrive, it runs all the checks again before the order is offered for release. The coordinator approves each release. It never offers an order for release on the strength of a promise, only on a passing check. The coordinator sees a short list of what was found and what is still open. Edge case: stock shows on hand but is on quality hold, so the agent treats it as unavailable and asks quality for the status.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

It releases an order only when every check passes, and it rechecks after anything arrives.

  • Treat material on quality hold as unavailable
  • Require the current revision of instructions
  • Check tooling condition and location
  • Recheck every item after anything arrives

Make it yours

Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.

  • Checks to run
  • Release lead time
  • Who gets requests
  • Hold rules

What keeps you in control

It always asks you first

  • Coordinator approves each release

Hard limits

  • Never release an order without approval
  • Never skip a recheck

It stops when

  • Done: the order is released with all checks passed
  • Stop: the missing item cannot arrive before the date and the coordinator replans

An example run

What happensOrder 8841 needs 400 housings. The ERP shows 450 in stock, but 120 are on hold. The agent holds the order and asks quality, who release 60. That is 390, still short. The agent asks purchasing for the 10 more and reruns the checks when they arrive. All pass, and the coordinator releases it.
