Writer Submission Requirements Agent

A submission that meets every stated requirement.

Writer Submission Requirements Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Article and pitch submissions get rejected for missing outlet-specific requirements, such as word limits, file format or required disclosures. This agent reads the editor's guidelines and checks the draft against each requirement: length, format, attachments, author bio and mandatory statements. It applies mechanical repairs, such as reformatting or trimming, then revalidates. If a repair removes a required element, like a conflict-of-interest disclosure, it rejects that repair and chooses another. It never changes the argument to make the draft fit. The writer approves and sends the submission. Edge case: when two requirements conflict, such as a strict word limit and a mandatory long disclosure, it asks the writer instead of choosing.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

It repairs objective failures without removing required content.

  • Required elements are never cut.
  • Repairs are mechanical, never changes to the argument.
  • Conflicting requirements go to the writer.
  • Revalidate after every repair.

An example run

What happensA 2,200-word op-ed must be under 2,000 words for a health outlet. The first cut removes 200 words, including the conflict-of-interest disclosure. The check fails, so the agent restores it and trims a background paragraph instead. The draft is now 1,980 words, has the disclosure and the required 50-word bio. The writer approves and sends it on June 3.
