BuyWhere is a product search service for AI assistants. Once you connect this helper, your AI can look up real products, compare prices and spot deals in shops across Singapore, the US, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. It is handy if you shop online or research prices and want your AI to do the digging for you.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to BuyWhere, a product catalog that gathers listings from many online shops. So when you ask about a product, your AI can actually look it up and compare prices instead of just guessing.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like find wireless earbuds under 50 dollars in Singapore. Your AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper talks to the BuyWhere service, which searches its catalog of products from shops like Lazada, Shopee and Amazon. The results come back and your AI shows them to you in the chat, with prices and details. You can then ask follow-up questions, like which one is cheapest or how two options compare.

What you can do with it

  • Search for products by keyword, category, price range or country
  • Compare two to ten products side by side
  • Find the cheapest listing for a product across shops
  • Spot products with big price drops
  • Browse the list of product categories
  • Find products similar to one you already like
  • Look up full details for a single product by its ID

Try asking your AI

  • “Find me wireless earbuds under $50 available in Singapore”
  • “Compare the top 3 options and tell me which is best value”
  • “What deals are there on coffee machines in Malaysia right now”
  • “Find the cheapest Sony WH-1000XM5 across Singapore and the US”

What it gives back to you

You get back a list of matching products with names, prices, shops and often images or short specs. Comparisons come back as a side-by-side view with a best-value pick. Deals show products with recent price drops. It is all shown as normal text and lists in your chat, so you can read it like a message.

Before you start

What you need

  • A BuyWhere API key (a kind of password for apps; you can get one in seconds with no signup or email)
  • Node.js installed on your computer so the npx command can run
  • An AI app that supports MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Cursor or VS Code Copilot

Good to know

It only looks up and compares products, it does not buy anything for you, so always check the final price and shop before you order.
