IMBA Wallet MCP server

by IMBAwallet · official

Lets your AI read IMBA Wallet's agent rules and, with your key, buy prepaid cards, eSIMs and gift cards.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Buy me a 20 dollar Apple gift card”, the IMBA Wallet MCP server connects it to IMBA Wallet, and you get back order confirmation.

This is a helper from IMBA Wallet that gives your AI two things: a set of plain-English docs about how their agent payments work, and a way to actually spend money on prepaid cards, travel eSIMs and gift cards. It is handy if you are curious how AI agents pay for things, or if you already have an IMBA operator key and want your assistant to buy something for you. There is no way to take money out, only to spend what is set up.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to IMBA Wallet, so it can look up their agent docs or, if you set it up with your key, place orders for prepaid cards, eSIMs and gift cards. You ask in normal words, and the helper does the talking to IMBA behind the scenes.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like what can an agent buy with IMBA, or please get me a 10 dollar Apple gift card. The AI passes that to this helper. The helper talks to IMBA Wallet's agent service. If it is the docs side, you get back explanations and policy text. If it is the spend side and you have given your key, it places the order and tells you what happened. Nothing is ever withdrawn back out.

What you can do with it

  • Read IMBA's agent policy and how-to pages
  • See what kinds of things agents are allowed to buy
  • Search the gift card catalog for a brand you want
  • Order a prepaid Visa or MasterCard for a bill
  • Buy a travel eSIM for mobile data
  • Buy a gift card from the live catalog
  • Check the result of an order you placed

Try asking your AI

  • “What can an AI agent buy with IMBA Wallet?”
  • “Show me IMBA's rules for agent spending”
  • “Search the gift card catalog for Steam”
  • “Buy me a 20 dollar Apple gift card”

What it gives back to you

For docs questions you get back a written answer in the chat, like a short help page. For catalog searches you get a list of matching gift cards with names and prices. For orders you get a confirmation with what was bought and the amount. If something fails, you get a plain message saying what went wrong.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js 18 or newer if you run it on your own computer
  • For the docs part: nothing else, it works without any key
  • For the spend part: an IMBA operator client ID and a private key from IMBA Wallet
  • A chat app that supports MCP servers, like the Claude desktop app

Good to know

The spend server can actually place orders and spend money on your IMBA account, so only connect it with a key you are comfortable using, and remember there is no withdrawal feature.
