Reddit Research MCP server
Lets your AI search Reddit for what people really say, with links to the actual posts and comments.

This is a helper for your AI that lets it dig through Reddit for you. You ask a question in plain words, and it goes off, finds the right communities, reads the posts and comments, and comes back with answers plus links to where it found them. It is handy for anyone who wants to know what real people think about a product, a tool, or a problem before making a decision.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already learned. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, like a plug that connects it to an outside service. This one connects your AI to Reddit, so it can look up communities, posts and comments when you ask. You do not need to install anything or have a Reddit account. You just add this helper once and your AI gains the ability to research Reddit for you.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like what developers complain about in a certain tool. Your AI passes that question to this helper. The helper searches a large index of active Reddit communities, finds the ones that match your topic, then pulls the posts and comment threads that talk about it. It hands the results back to your AI with links to the real discussions. Your AI then writes you a summary or report, and every claim it makes points back to a real post or comment you can click.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Find subreddits that match a topic you describe in plain words
- Search for posts inside a specific subreddit
- Pull the latest, hottest or top posts from a community
- Fetch full comment threads so your AI can read the whole conversation
- Compare how people talk about two products side by side
- Save a set of subreddits as a feed so you can come back to it later
- Update or delete a saved feed when your research focus changes
Try asking your AI
- “What are developers saying about Next.js versus Remix?”
- “Find the top complaints about CRM tools in small business communities”
- “What problems are SaaS founders having with subscription billing?”
- “Save these communities as a feed so we can track competitor sentiment over time”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in your chat window, written by your AI, backed by links to real Reddit posts and comments. Those links include things like upvote counts and the direct web address of the discussion. If you ask it to save a feed, it confirms the feed was created and gives you an ID you can use later. It does not change anything on Reddit itself. It only reads public posts and comments.
Before you start
What you need
- An AI assistant that can use MCP servers, like Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or Gemini CLI
- A quick one-time sign-in when you first connect (takes about 30 seconds)
Good to know
It only reads public Reddit data and does not post or change anything, but the answers your AI writes are summaries, so always check the linked posts before you rely on them.
Install it with your AI
