Uniswap Trader MCP server

by kukapay

Let your AI check Uniswap token prices and run swaps on several blockchains for you.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Swap 1 ETH for DAI on Ethereum”, the Uniswap Trader MCP server connects it to Uniswap, and you get back price or swap receipt in chat.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to Uniswap, a place where people trade one cryptocurrency token for another. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI in plain words for a price or to make a swap, and it will do the work on the blockchain. It is handy for people who already hold crypto and trade tokens now and then.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Uniswap, so it can look up token prices and send swap transactions on your behalf when you ask. You stay in charge: the AI only acts when you tell it to.

What this MCP server does

You type a request like swapping some ETH for DAI. Your AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper talks to Uniswap on the blockchain you picked, works out the best route, and either gives you a price or sends the swap. Then it hands the result back to your AI, which shows it to you in the chat.

What you can do with it

  • Get a live price quote for swapping one token into another
  • Run a swap on Uniswap V3 with a slippage limit you set
  • Trade on Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, Arbitrum, Celo, BNB Chain, Avalanche, or Base
  • Ask for suggestions on the best route based on liquidity and fees
  • Choose a deadline so a swap does not hang around too long
  • Swap a fixed amount in, or ask for a fixed amount out

Try asking your AI

  • “Get me a price quote for swapping 1 ETH to DAI on Ethereum.”
  • “Swap 1 ETH for DAI on Ethereum with a 0.5% slippage tolerance and a 20-minute deadline.”
  • “What would 500 USDC get me in WETH on Base right now?”
  • “Swap 100 USDC for MATIC on Polygon with a 1% slippage limit.”

What it gives back to you

For a price check, you get back the price, how much you would receive, the smallest amount you are guaranteed, and the route the trade would take. For a swap, you also get a transaction hash, which is a receipt code you can look up on a block explorer. Everything shows up as text in the chat, so you can read it right away.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js version 14 or higher on the machine running it
  • An Infura key (a free code from Infura that lets the helper talk to the blockchain)
  • A crypto wallet with funds and its private key, used to sign swaps
  • RPC URLs for any chains you want to use, set up in chainConfigs.js

Good to know

This helper can move real money from your wallet, so only use a wallet you are willing to trade from, keep the private key safe, and double check every swap before you confirm it.
