Vibe Check MCP server
by PV-Bhat
Your AI pauses to sanity-check its plan with a second AI before it runs off and does something silly.

Vibe Check is a small helper that gives your AI a second opinion before it acts. When your AI is about to do something big or risky, it can ask Vibe Check to look over the plan first. It is handy for anyone who uses an AI assistant for real work and wants fewer wrong turns.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another service. This one connects your AI to a second AI that acts like a mentor. When your AI is unsure, it calls Vibe Check, and the mentor replies with questions and warnings before your AI carries on.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI to do something, like plan a project or change a file. Before it charges ahead, your AI sends its goal and plan to Vibe Check. Vibe Check passes that to a second AI model, which reads it and gives back a short review. The review points out shaky assumptions, missing steps, or signs the plan is getting too complicated. Your AI then uses that feedback to adjust what it does next.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Get a second opinion on a plan before your AI starts working
- Catch overcomplicated solutions before they get built
- Pause your AI before it takes an action that is hard to undo
- Keep a short memory of earlier advice within one session
- Set simple rules for a session, like no external calls or no secrets on disk
- Log mistakes and fixes so future checks can learn from them
Try asking your AI
- “Before you rewrite the whole report generator, run a vibe check on your plan.”
- “Vibe check this: I am going to delete all old draft files and start fresh.”
- “Ask the mentor if my approach to this spreadsheet cleanup makes sense.”
- “Do a vibe check on my plan to restructure the team folder.”
What it gives back to you
You get a short written review in the chat, not a file. It usually lists concerns, questions, and a suggestion to simplify or slow down. Sometimes it just says the plan looks fine. If you use a session id, it also mentions advice it gave earlier in the same session.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js version 20 or newer
- An API key for at least one AI provider, such as Google Gemini (the provider's site gives you one for free)
- An MCP-capable app like Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, or VS Code
Good to know
The review comes from another AI model, so treat it as advice, not a guarantee, and keep an eye on what your main AI does next.
