aidemo MCP server

by tandryukha

Turn a short description of a product flow into a narrated, captioned demo video file.

aidemo is a helper that makes short demo videos of a website or app. You describe the flow in one sentence, your AI writes a simple script file, and aidemo records a real Chrome browser doing those steps, adds a voiceover and captions, and gives you a finished MP4. It is handy for anyone who needs a quick product demo for a README, a landing page, or a release note.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another tool. This one connects your AI to aidemo, the demo video engine. So when you ask for a demo video, your AI can actually write the script and start the recording for you.

What this MCP server does

You tell your AI something like record a 45 second demo of the checkout flow. The AI writes a storyboard file, which is a plain list of scenes with narration and browser steps. aidemo then opens a real Chrome, follows those steps with a smooth cursor and typing, and records the screen. After that it adds a voiceover, syncs captions, trims the boring waiting parts, and saves a finished MP4. You can re-run it later when your product changes, and it records the same steps again without you doing anything by hand.

What you can do with it

  • Record a short demo video of a web flow from one sentence
  • Add a voiceover and synced captions to the demo
  • Auto-zoom and trim idle time so the video looks snappy
  • Make a README-ready GIF from the same recording
  • Save still images from the video for review
  • Re-render the demo when your product changes
  • Check your setup and storyboard before spending a take

Try asking your AI

  • “Record a 45s demo touring Wikipedia: search for Ada Lovelace, open the Analytical Engine, then glide down the article”
  • “Make a 30 second demo of our signup flow with captions and a calm voice”
  • “Render a demo of the checkout page and save a GIF for the README”
  • “Re-render the onboarding demo because we changed the button text”

What it gives back to you

You get a finished MP4 file in the demo folder, plus a GIF and still images if you ask for them. In the chat, your AI shows the job status, the stage it is on, and the path to the final video. If something fails, it points you to a screenshot and a log file so you can see what went wrong.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js 20 or newer
  • Google Chrome installed
  • ffmpeg and ffprobe on your PATH
  • An OpenAI API key for voice and captions, or use the local voice option with no key

Good to know

aidemo drives a real Chrome browser, so it can click and type on any page you point it at, including pages where you are logged in; only run storyboards you trust.
