LightningProx MCP server
Ask many AI models questions and pay per request with Bitcoin Lightning, no account needed.

This is a helper that lets your AI assistant talk to LightningProx, a service that runs lots of different AI models. Instead of signing up and managing an API key, you pay small amounts with Bitcoin Lightning. It is handy if you want to try several models, including ones that can look at images, without setting up accounts everywhere.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI assistant can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your assistant a new skill or a connection to another service. This one connects your assistant to LightningProx, so it can send your questions to models like Claude, GPT, Gemini or Mistral and bring the answers back. You just ask in plain words, and the helper does the behind-the-scenes work.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI assistant a question, and it decides to use this helper. The helper sends your question to LightningProx, which forwards it to the model you picked. LightningProx checks your prepaid balance and takes a small amount of Bitcoin (called sats) for the request. The answer comes back and shows up in your chat, just like a normal reply. You can also ask it to check your balance, list models, or create an invoice to top up.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Ask any of the 19 supported models a question
- Send an image link and ask the model to describe or analyse it
- Check how many sats are left on your spend token
- List the available models and their prices
- Estimate the cost of a request before you send it
- Create a Lightning invoice to add more funds
Try asking your AI
- “Ask claude-sonnet-4-6 to summarise this paragraph for me”
- “Use gemini-2.5-flash to explain what the Lightning Network is”
- “Look at this image link and tell me what is in the chart”
- “Check my remaining balance and list the models I can use”
What it gives back to you
You get the model's answer as normal text in your chat. If you ask about your account, you get numbers like your remaining sats or a price estimate. If you ask for an invoice, you get a payment request you can open in a Lightning wallet. Everything appears as a simple reply, no technical output to read.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js installed on your computer (the npx command needs it)
- A Lightning wallet to pay invoices and get a spend token
- The Claude desktop app or Claude Code, with this server added to its config
Good to know
Every request spends real money from your prepaid balance, so check the price before sending large or repeated requests.
Install it with your AI
