AD Ports Group deploys AI-ready network across Abu Dhabi operations
AD Ports Group and e& have built a terrestrial digital network spanning more than 1,000 kilometers across Abu Dhabi's ports, logistics and maritime infrastructure. The system transmits sensor data, video feeds and IoT signals in real time, with ultra-low latency designed to support machine learning and automated decision-making.
The network connects the Group's operational assets and strengthens coordination across ports and industrial facilities. Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, said the deployment reflects a shift toward predictive logistics. "The future of global trade is intelligent and predictive," he said.
Masood M. Sharif Mahmood, Group CEO of e&, said the terrestrial infrastructure creates a foundation for advanced automation in logistics operations.
Multi-layered connectivity strategy
The terrestrial network is one part of AD Ports Group's broader digital transformation. In 2025, the company began deploying Low Earth Orbit satellite connectivity across its global operations.
Together, the terrestrial, satellite and radio systems form a multi-layered digital connectivity architecture. The combination is designed to provide resilience across the logistics network.
What this means for operations teams
For operations professionals, the deployment demonstrates how physical infrastructure and connectivity underpin AI-driven logistics. Real-time data transmission and low-latency networks are prerequisites for automating decision-making in supply chains.
