Eric Schwartz Joins AI Sales Optimization Startup Scowtt as CRO

Eric Schwartz, a veteran in AI-driven advertising technology, has stepped into the role of Chief Revenue Officer at Scowtt, an AI-native customer acquisition startup. This move marks his transition from programmatic ad tech to performance marketing, where he aims to apply his deep experience with machine learning to enhance sales optimization.

Schwartz’s journey began at MiQ, where he explored automated custom buying algorithms. He then helped launch Scibids in North America in 2020, an AI bid optimization platform that was acquired by DoubleVerify for $125 million in 2023. Now, at Scowtt, he’s focusing on leveraging AI to improve how brands use their customer data for smarter marketing and sales.

What Scowtt Brings to Sales Teams

Scowtt’s platform offers two core AI solutions:

  • AI Models: These use first-party CRM data—like order history, appointment times, call durations, and message sentiment—to build detailed customer personas. These personas are then fed directly into advertising platforms such as Google Ads and Meta’s Advantage+ to improve bidding efficiency. Schwartz emphasizes that the goal isn’t to replace existing search or social bidding tools but to provide them with richer data for better decision-making.
  • AI Agents: Acting as sales development representatives, these AI agents engage customers through SMS. They use CRM insights to suggest next purchases, offer deals to inactive customers, and prompt proactive calls to action.

Why AI is Essential for Sales Optimization

Schwartz explains that his focus on AI was intentional. At MiQ, he aimed to empower clients to automate manual, time-consuming tasks like decision trees and bidding optimizations. His experience with Scibids confirmed that AI-driven automation in sales and marketing is no longer optional—it’s a necessity.

“Without AI driving decisions and learnings, companies will fall behind,” Schwartz says. “Just as every company now has a website and chatbots, soon every company will have personalized AI agents engaging customers.”

He highlights AI’s strengths in automating routine tasks such as reporting and platform optimization, but stresses the importance of human oversight. “You might reduce the number of traders by 75%, but you’ll still need experts monitoring and guiding the process.”

How Scowtt Fits With Big Platforms Like Google and Meta

While Meta and Google invest heavily in AI for ad automation, Schwartz points out that Scowtt complements these platforms rather than competes with them. “We enrich their bidding systems by feeding them more detailed CRM data, making their AI smarter.”

He notes that building a seamless integration of CRM data into bidding platforms isn’t trivial. “Google could develop this in-house, but it would take years and a large team. Our CEO’s background at Google, Meta, and Microsoft gives us a unique edge in doing this efficiently.”

AI’s Role in Connected TV (CTV) Buying

Schwartz also advises the French AI startup Olyzon, which focuses on CTV buying. He sees potential in AI helping buyers target individual shows based on campaign goals, a step forward from current methods that rely mostly on direct buys or private marketplace deals.

“CTV still lacks clear performance metrics and efficient buying strategies,” he says. “AI can improve how marketers buy, measure, and report on CTV campaigns.”

What Sales Professionals Should Take Away

  • AI tools that leverage CRM data can significantly improve how you target and engage customers.
  • Automation will reduce manual tasks but won’t eliminate the need for skilled sales professionals.
  • Integrating AI agents into sales workflows can boost customer engagement via personalized outreach like SMS.
  • Platforms like Scowtt act as a bridge, enriching major ad ecosystems with valuable first-party data.
